After the cancellation of events at the University of Iowa due to Covid-19, this M.F.A. thesis show shifted from on campus to the historic Secrest 1883 Octagonal Barn. The show Fortress included painting, sculpture, and installation that explore the importance of community in times of trauma and transition. The central piece of the exhibition was a social practice project where Jennifer worked with local organization Houses into Homes. The project relied upon blanket donations from multiple communities to create a large scale installation. After the duration of the exhibition, all donated blankets were sent to Houses into Homes to help support individuals and families in the Iowa City community. The exhibition is available here for digital viewing.
